Here’s a little motto I encourage all my team members to adopt: stop doubting yourself or your ability to be successful!
I constantly hear excuses like, “I could never do that…” or, “I just don’t have the time…” or, “I don’t have help at home.” Honestly, you guys? That’s a load of hooey!
There’s a very simple trick you can use to make sure that you’ll ultimately be successful with your WineShop at Home business: hold yourself accountable, put in the time, and choose to do the work!
See how easy that is?
And of course, don’t forget to drink loads of wine along the way – that’s the best part (and it may be tax deductible*)!
“You’re so Good, I Could Never Be like You!”
Yes, people really do say that to me. And shucks, guys, thank you for the compliment, but honestly you can do what I do. Heck! I challenge you to do it better! I am not perfect, nor does the role of wine consultant require you to be.
If you are not a distinguished wine expert or sommelier, don’t stress! You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to rock a WineShop business. When I started, I literally knew nothing about wine. NO-THING! (Well, except that I really, really liked to drink it while consuming chocolate and diverse cheeses…).
As a WineShop consultant, you’ll things along the way with a team of supportive individuals to help you blossom and make your business boom! It’s a job like anything else. You play the “role” during your presentations, and the best part is, people are there to learn and, well… drink wine!
2 Keys to Being a Successful WineShop at Home Consultant
I credit my rise in the ranks of WineShop to two things:
- Surrounding myself with exceptional people..
- …and staying consistent.
I know! The phrase “staying consistent” isn’t sexy and no one wants to talk about it, but here’s the deal: I put the work in, and I’ll tell you a little secret. I’m an average sales person. I’m an average recruiter. I’m an average consultant.
That’s right! I said it! I like to tell my husband, “I’m not exceptional but I am exceptionally average.”
So now you’re wondering, “how can someone who’s so ‘average’ become so outstanding in this field?” Consistency, my friend. I’m consistent as hell.
I will be average all day, every day for years and years and years, and I’m not afraid to shout it from the rooftops! I will out-average anyone because I’m willing to do it non-stop until I retire.
And guess what happens to people who are willing to be average all day, every day for ten years in a row? Yep. They create a WineShop team that sells $1 million in wine in a single month.
Aim for consistency rather than highs and lows. For instance, if three or four times a year you sell $10,000 and recruit 10 people that’s amazing… but chances are it may not be like that every month. Instead, opt for being consistently average because you will be more successful in the long run.
Be the Master of Your Calendar
Actively choose to make time for your business. Be strategic with your schedule. If your kids have a jam-packed weekend of sports, have your spouse step in for weekend parent duties. Make the effort to put in time and it will translate into earning money and maybe even incentive trips – oh my!
Hold Yourself Accountable
Aim to be exceptionally good at looking in the mirror and holding yourself accountable. If I don’t have a good year, it’s not because WineShop’s wines weren’t good enough. It’s not because they didn’t run the right promotions or life was too busy… it’s because I did not do the work.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself, and only yourself, what YOU could do differently next time? The only person who is responsible for your business is you, and that’s incredibly empowering when you’re willing to own it.
