There’s no way to put into words exactly how much fun incentive trips are. Sure, any vacation is awesome but these trips involve a level of pampering that you’re not going to get when booking your own.
How often when planning a trip for yourself would you go the extra mile to make sure there’s champagne waiting for you in your room? Or superb dinner reservations every night? Or a beautiful flower arrangement delivered to your room as an after dinner surprise? I know I wouldn’t! Heck, that’s a lot of work! But when WineShop is doing all the planning, they don’t miss a beat (c’mon… you know you felt a twinge of jealousy watching all the other WineShop consultants post from Spain!).
Honestly, I’m not trying to “rub it in your face” if you didn’t earn the trip this year. I’m here to tell you this: an incentive trip is so ridiculously doable that it should be goal #1 for 2016!
Let’s Be Real for a Second
I hear consultants try to justify why they’re not making the incentive trips a priority for their business. I hear things like, “Oh, I don’t want to work that hard, so I’ll just pay for my own vacation.” Or they say, “I like planning! It’s half the fun.”
Come on. Planning is not THAT fun. Let’s just be honest about this. With a WineShop at Home incentive trip, somebody has already scoped out the location, chosen the best hotels, made sure you’ll have easy access to dinner, vineyards, and events. All you have to do is show up!
Trust Me, It Will Be THE Best Trip You’ve Ever Taken
The best part about an incentive trip is that someone else is footing the bill. You can’t even fathom how great that feels. Some of the bigger direct sales companies will just drop you off at a resort and say, “have a good time!”
I hope WineShop at Home never becomes that kind of company! It isn’t that every minute of the day is scheduled, but we are taken care of every second. Even down to the smallest details, like hiring a local to show us all the cool things we can do in the area or making sure there’s someone to meet us at the airport and take care of our luggage. All the hotels are centrally located. At the end of a wine tasting day, there’s often a complimentary bottle waiting for us back in the room along and maybe eve chocolate or jewelry or flowers. And Lord knows I can never get enough of those things!
Ready to Earn an Incentive Trip? Here’s What it Takes
Earning that WineShop at Home VIP status does require you to push beyond what a regular consultant might do. Let’s break it down into the main components that you’ll need to put on your radar:
- You’ll need a strong, consistent schedule of tastings every week. I’m talking 2-4 per week.
- You’ll need to add two or more people to your team each month (if you’re booking ~10 tastings per month, this will start to happen naturally).
- You’ll need to stay in touch with your leaders and take advantage of any available training opportunities to increase your tasting average.
If you’re not into doing that kind of work, consider what you’re missing out on and maybe you’ll be motivated to try. How many jobs will allow you to work 2-3 nights per week, get paid and earn a real vacation?…I can’t think of any.
Our next trip is to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in January 2017. Qualification started February 1 so get your act together today and join in on the fun next winter!
