Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could excel at your job, make a great living selling products you like to people you like and then earn an incentive trip to some of the most posh locations in the world… just for doing your job?
Welcome to my life as a WineShop at Home Leader.
When I first started my business of selling wine with WineShop, an incentive trip was so far from my brain that I thought, “That’s not even possible.” I proved myself wrong when I earned my first trip within six months of working with the company. It was a trip to Italy, and I took my husband. As a newly married couple we got to explore the city of Florence and stroll the cobblestone streets of San Gimignano while enjoying lazy afternoons with a carafe of Rose.
It was my first time visiting Europe, and I remember thinking to myself, “Oh my gosh, I never want to miss another trip again because this is something really special.”
Today, I can well afford to pay for my own fancy trips anywhere in the world at every level of luxury. But you know what? They’re still never going to be as good as company incentive trips.
Are You Willing to Go Slightly Above Average?
Here’s a little secret (well, it’s not so much a secret anymore, but it’s still a very useful piece of information): WineShop at Home will reward you for being consistent in your efforts and for going just slightly above the average consultant’s level of accomplishment.
When you give your business the extra push, not only will you receive your commission and probably earn complimentary wine, but you can earn a trip where almost all of your expenses are covered. They’re going to send you to a luxurious destination that will be totally unlike any vacation you would plan yourself. It will usually have some sort of wine component, and your companions will be other wine-minded people who are consultants, just like you. Fast forward a few trips and you’ll find yourself craving time with your WineShop friends hanging out by the pool or exploring the city. Your spouse might even make a few new friends of his or her own.
The Above-Average Consultant
If you’re a consultant and you haven’t been able to earn a trip yet, my guess is that if you put in an extra hour each day, you’d be on track to earn the trip this year. The consultants who earn the trips all have something in common: they’re focused on what they want, and they’re willing to put in a little extra legwork to get it. They are also typically the consultants with the busiest lives! No one gets to say, “Well, those trip earners just have more time/bigger teams/better customers…” because it’s simply not true.
Here are some examples of what this looks like in real life.
Let’s say a tasting gets cancelled, and our consultant, we’ll call her Jackie, knows she needs to do two tastings per week to meet her goal. As soon as Jackie finds out that the tasting is off, she’s thinking about where she can book her next tasting. Who can she call today to book an extra event? She won’t stop until she has three tastings booked next week, to make up for the loss this week.
(Sidenote: WineShop at Home has a formula where someone who consistently does two tastings a week will earn an incentive trip. What part time job would allow you to work two days a week and reward you with a free international vacation and still PAY you!?)
Most reps don’t earn the trips because of their mindset. They fall behind or have a couple bad months and they think, “Oh, I’m giving up. I can’t catch up.”
The leaders that really want to earn the trip look for ways to strategize and get the job done. And I know direct sales: there is always a way to get the job done.
See Yourself on the Vacation of a Lifetime
Imagine having the best of both worlds when you’re traveling: you have your wonderful spouse next to you at dinner, but you get to enjoy drinks and exotic food with your WineShop friends. Oh, and did I mention that you’re also staying at the premiere resort in the Mexican Riviera/Cannes/Barcelona/Tuscany/Costa Rica/Enter Luxury Destination Here?
In general, WineShop alternates their incentive trips between a wine-themed European locale and a warm sunny beach destination. Either one is fine with me! If WineShop wants to send me to Mexico on their dime, you can be sure that I will sell as much wine as possible!
Right now, WineShop is offering consultants a trip to Barcelona, Spain until July 31st. This trip is valued at around $3000+ per person. If you’re a consultant and you haven’t earned your trip yet, now is the time to push forward!
However, if you’re just starting out, WineShop is going to announce the next destination at our Annual Conference this summer. Stay tuned! You will have plenty of time to earn this next trip (but if you’re reading this in July 2015, take my advice and don’t wait for the announcement to start booking August strong! Do it NOW!).
