Hey there, WineShop Consultants! If you’ve been following my calls and Facebook posts and you’ve already got your January solidly booked, fantastic. If you haven’t, it’s not too late!
Pick up the phone and start calling people right this minute. Do whatever you need to do right now to zip up the first month of 2016. Set the tone for a fantastic year – otherwise your first quarter is going to fall to pieces.
Don’t Spend January in a Fog
Especially if you’re new to WineShop, there’s something you need to know: people join our business in January like it’s a gym. They sign up on the 1st and expect to be in there every day, putting in the hours and seeing immediate results. By the middle of February, it’s crickets.
Why the February slow down? Because people expect that it’s going to be easy. As soon as they realize that it’s not, they fall off and decide to try something else.
Don’t be one of those people! Make January count. Get the ball rolling by doing a push week. Or ask yourself: what do you want to get better at in 2016? Maybe it’s outsourcing so you don’t have to spend hours putting together your newsletter. Maybe it’s developing a better understanding of the direct sales industry that will help you accomplish even bigger goals. Whatever it is, go to your calendar and allot some time to get it done.
Valentine’s Day is Right Around the Corner
If you seriously can’t shake off the New Year fog, then at least try to make those first 10 days of February really count. Book a mini Valentine’s Day treat tasting. Pick out some special bottles for the special day. Encourage your friends to shake off winter by having people over for a tasting.
Here’s the bottom line: if you want to be successful you have to put in the work, no matter what time of year it is. Odds are that one in every ten people you reach out to will book a tasting. Maybe more. But if you’re only asking three or four people, then it’s no wonder you’re not getting the responses you want.
If you run this business for a certain amount of time and with the right amount of effort, you will see success. It’s practically fail-proof (don’t quote me on that!). But if you only give it 90 days, you won’t be able to judge if WineShop is for you.
