When you start your business as a WineShop at Home consultant, your product may be wine but your skillset is that of a direct seller. You’re a businessperson, a leader who motivates others and trains them to do great work.
When you work for WineShop at Home, you’re in sales.
And just like any other profession, you will need continuing education if you wish to build a career that can really sustain you and your family. The more tools you have in your toolkit, the more effective you will be at your job.
WineShop Offers Fantastic Training
When I go to a wine tasting, I know that I’m going to have to employ my selling skills to help sell the wine. Sure, I’d like to think that the wine jumps off their mantle and onto their order form (wouldn’t we all!?) and WineShop produces some darn good wine, but the truth is that I still have to employ my selling skills.
WineShop offers really fantastic training that is an excellent place for a direct seller to begin. If you’re serious about expanding your sales ability so you can sell more wine, earn a bigger commission check and some awesome incentive trips, take advantage of the training seminars that WineShop offers.
Find Training Elsewhere
I’m one of the top trainers at WineShop. I like to think that I provide really great information, but I’m fully aware that I don’t know it all! No one does! One of my favorite things about working for WineShop is that it has opened me up to some really great training that was outside of the company.
I’ve succeeded with the business because not only did I absorb the internal training, but I also expanded my skillset through other means (I have multiple educational resources that I’ll share in just a moment).
“Getting training” doesn’t always just mean attending a seminar. It can also mean reading a book, listening to a CD or watching Ted Talks. Who knows where you’re going to gain insight? The more open and thoughtful you are, the more quickly your career will grow.
Some of My Favorite Resources
If you’re looking for ways to expand your expertise, check out some of these incredible resources that I have found over the years:
1. www.TeamConnections.org is a great source for direct sales training and leadership development.
2. www.StepintoSuccess.com is Belinda Ellsworth’s (author of Direct Selling for Dummies) website where she offers basic business training and resources for direct salespeople (she’s also funny!).
3. www.CaterinaRando.com is a fantastic resource for women who want to build their business.
4. www.SpiritofSuccess,com is Beth Jones-Schall’s company; she did some training for WineShop not too long ago and has really fantastic ideas to share.
5. www.CostaMesaTaxReturn.com is Rhonda Johnson’s website. She is a tax professional that specializes in direct sales – definitely something to check out!
6. www.TheFlipFlopCEO.com is an amazing story about a mother and daughter who flourished in network marketing. I highly recommend reading their book, available on their website or Amazon.com.
If you want to be the top in your industry, you have to continue to learn and grow from others who have done what you want to do. I would say that about any industry or profession. Keep learning, keep growing, and be consistent – you will see the results you want!
