When you disengage from your WineShop at Home business, you might as well tender your resignation.
That might sound harsh, but in all the years that I’ve worked as a WineShop at Home consultant, rarely have I seen a consultant wander away and disconnect from his or her customers without totally falling off the wagon or at the very least, losing a lot of steam.
It’s hard to get that momentum back when you’ve lost it.
If you find yourself losing interest, getting stopped, or otherwise disconnecting from your business, it’s time to take a good hard look at your priorities – and get yourself back on track before things, well, go to shit. So to speak.
Is WineShop at Home a Good Fit for Me?
Okay, first a disclaimer: WineShop at Home is not a good fit for some people. Sometimes it’s just too much pressure to run your own business and people need to step back or go off into a different direction.
I am all for people stepping away if they need to. What I’m decidedly against is people fading out and letting their business wither on the vine.
In other words, if WineShop isn’t right for you, no sweat: but get it handled! Call your leader and say, “This isn’t right for me,” and go off and do your thing.
But if that’s not the case, it’s time to reconnect with your people and get yourself back on track. This can be a lonely business; I’ll admit that sometimes I resist going down to my basement office because it means I’ll be working alone… I think that’s normal. Plus, in my own life things get crazy! I’ve moved, had babies, things that can easily derail me and now as I go through a divorce I have to make SURE I don’t drift far from my goals.
It’s easy to put things on the back burner if you’re not 100% committed, it is work after all. When consultants start missing conference calls, skipping team meetings or neglecting conference, I know that they’re probably going to ghost us.
It’s a harsh reality.
If I notice that I’m pushing things away, alarm bells start to go off in my head. After all, there’s no boss telling me, “Come to work or you’re fired!” So if I’m neglecting my WineShop duties, I know it’s time to reconnect.
Reconnect with Your People
Call your team leader. Email a friend who’s a consultant. Tune in to the next corporate meeting. Anything to get you back in the swing of WineShop at Home!
One of my favorite things to do is call up a local consultant and meet for happy hour somewhere great (many places will allow you to bring your own wine for a corkage fee. Plan something. Talk about the business. Commiserate and celebrate together. Anything!
Really, anything!
The whole point is to stay in the energy and the enthusiasm of the business. And I know that sometimes action has to come before motivation so start with an action you like. These get-togethers, online or in-person, are essentially the social moments you would normally have around the water cooler if we were in a traditional work environment. They’re so important!
If you’re part of my team and you’re feeling disconnected, let’s talk. Reach out to me and let’s get that energetic spark going again! Click HERE to connect.
A final thought: it’s been said that comfort = death. That is so true in your WineShop at Home business. You must continue to push yourself, stretch yourself, try new things, and be willing to take risks. That is the only way you’ll thrive.
