Have you ever felt that there are roadblocks in your direct selling business building efforts?
Every direct sales company I’ve ever heard of is really great about offering support and business strategy to its consultants, and WineShop at Home is no exception. We tell you exactly what to do to make your business successful.
So how come so many people still get stopped on the path to having a successful, flourishing business?
If that’s you, I have a little news that might not taste so good… you might be the WHO that’s standing in the way of your business success.
Our choices, behaviors and beliefs are the number one cause of blockage and stagnation when it comes to business building. If you’re feeling like your business isn’t moving forward quickly enough, I can promise you that your choices are single-handedly responsible.
Maybe that sentence doesn’t feel so great to read, but the good news is that when you’re ready to take responsibility for the things that happen (or don’t happen) in your business, you can take it to the next level.
Ignorance is Bliss (Sort of) – Identifying the WHAT of the Issue
If we’ve already decided that you’re the WHO of the lack of growth, next we have to look at the WHAT. The WHAT of the issue is the logistical root of the problem. Things like not putting in enough time, not making enough phone calls, or not knowing the WineShop sales strategy well enough are all examples of the “WHAT.”
If you don’t identify a problem, then I can’t really blame you for not fixing it – right? If you are unaware that your team growth has stalled because you are not asking enough people, then no harm, no foul.
(If you can really consider your lack of business growth as “no harm, no foul.”)
However, once you realize the WHAT and become aware of the issue, the bliss is over. No excuses allowed!
Go Ahead Be a Big Mouth
The single biggest roadblock direct sellers face when growing their business is their mouth. Either it’s open too much or not enough. Finding a balance is imperative to your business development.
Personally, I could stand to talk more about my wine business. I’m simply not opening my mouth enough to talk about my business. This means asking the right questions, like:
- Would you like to re-order that Trilogy wine you loved?
- Would you like to host a Wine Tasting?
- Can I chat with you about becoming a WineShop at Home Consultant?
You have to GO FOR THE ASK
I recently brought a new consultant on board. I was aware she had experience with direct sales, enjoyed wine, and was looking for a new job opportunity.
Even armed with the knowledge about her experience and job ambitions, do you think I asked? Nope! Fail!
Instead, she was the one who took the initiative to ask about joining my business. Thank goodness she flashed that light above her OWN head. In her first 27 days she did more that $2700 in sales! Holy cow! She’s even on track to promote to Team Leader! To think that I have the wine consultant business with WineShop at Home… and I was the one that committed the transgression. For shame!
Let me clarify: success in this business is NOT about being pushy. I am not telling you to handcuff people to the desk until they surrender their credit card number. There is no secret trick that causes people to spend money or join your business. It’s simple – ask more people, more often. That’s it!
“Hope is not a strategy. Luck is not a factor. Fear is not an option” – James Cameron.
