I’ve worked in network marketing my entire life and have been with WineShop at Home for 12+ years. It has changed my life and the lives of my family members – for the better! In fact, this past month I received the biggest 1099 that WineShop at Home has ever issued; we’re growing like crazy and my team is seeing huge results.
And yet, I still cringe when people ask, “Is WineShop at Home network marketing?”
I wish I had a poignant and eloquent way of explaining why network marketing doesn’t always suck because my experience with WineShop at Home has been great. But I don’t. So instead, I’ve written this blog post on how WineShop at Home is different.
If there’s even a tiny spark of inspiration hiding somewhere inside you that’s curious about this business, read on. Do your homework to learn the in’s and out’s of direct sales; I think that once you have a handle on how network marketing usually works and how WineShop at Home does things differently, choosing to start a business with WineShop at Home will be an absolute no-brainer.
Yes, WineShop at Home is Technically Network Marketing
Whether we call it direct marketing, MLM, direct sales, consumer direct marketing or network marketing, the truth is that, yes, WineShop at Home is set up in a traditional network marketing structure. In other words, consultants can earn money in two ways: first, through selling our products, and secondly, through earning a commission on the sales that their successful team members make.
Please note: this is different than a Ponzi Scheme, where investors are misled to put money toward backing a company that doesn’t actually exist. It is also not a Pyramid Scheme, which relies solely on recruiting new members and quickly becomes unsustainable.
Ponzi and Pyramid Schemes are illegal – WineShop is a legal business that sells a quality product and is doing very well!
But back to my point: The reason I hate it when WineShop at Home gets lumped into a group of poorly-structured network marketing businesses is because WineShop is much more like a miniature franchise.
It’s more professional, more engaging, and the business structure is set up in such a way that the consultants have a greater chance of success than they do with other network marketing businesses. And why is that, you ask? Well…
We Sell Wine. Need I Say More?
When you walk into a room and tell someone you sell juice products or jewelry or skin care, they might give you the side eye and think, “Oh great, she’s with one of THOSE businesses.”
If you walk into a room and say, “I sell wine,” everyone wants to be your friend. There are no pre-conceived notions in the direct selling space about wine. Wine is fun, wine is cool and is respected. People who would never go to a home party will go to a WineShop tasting because it’s wine!
And here’s why WineShop at Home is more like a miniature franchise: we have a legitimate way for people to join the company and solely sell the products and earn commission. Recruiting, while a lucrative way to earn money, is not required in order to make money.
Even our newest consultants can earn up to a 35% commission on the wine they sell. Consultants aren’t required to have inventory, and there’s no required membership fee that customers must pay before they order the product.
In all, if you’re thinking about joining a network marketing business, strongly consider WineShop at Home. Do you still have questions about what it’s like to work in this industry? Let’s talk. Click HERE to speak with me directly.
