This week I started thinking about all the people in my life who I want to acknowledge, thank and extend a little love toward during the holiday season and guess what, the list is long!
I thought of my children’s teachers (both boys have two teachers, plus Sunday school teachers and tutors – so there’s 7 people already!), our dog groomer, the FedEx guy, my hairdresser, our house cleaner, the postman… the list goes on and on, and I’m not even talking about our close friends, neighbors and family.
If you’re like me, there are a lot of people who you see semi-regularly who do a lot to make your days better. I’m so grateful to have these people in our lives, and I want to show them that they make a difference.
It feels so good to acknowledge the folks who work really hard but who might not necessarily get a lot of thanks… especially when everyone is rushing around during the holiday season.
But hmm… what to get them?
Get Them Wine, Obviously!
Wine is simply the perfect holiday gift, and when you have a lot of people on your list, WineShop at Home makes it easy to get all of your shopping done at once.
The great thing about wine is that when you gift it to someone – even if you don’t know the person well, or you don’t know what their drinking preferences are – they can do something with it. If they don’t like the kind of wine you gave them, I’d be willing to bet they have a spouse or sibling or friend who would like it.
Or maybe they’ll even re-gift it to someone else. Who cares!? The point is that you thought of them and took the time to give them something nice.
I can tell you that growing up, I watched my father (who is a contractor) receive bottle after bottle of scotch from his clients and co-workers. My dad didn’t even like scotch, and no one else in the family drank it and you can only have so much! Everyone assumed that my dad liked scotch because it’s a “man’s drink” and he was in a “man’s profession” but we needed variety!
Now my mother, on the other hand, was the manager for a big law firm. Year after year the gift baskets would come in for the holidays, and so would the sweet treats. The lawyers let her choose anything she wanted from the baskets. She always chose the wine because guess what, you can only eat so many treats before they go bad and you’re just plain OVER it and you can only re-gift so many. Wine however KEEPS! It’s like the gift that keeps giving.
Everybody loves wine – and if they don’t, they know someone who does! For some of my special people, the wine is going to go along with cold hard cash, gift cards or even a homemade treat but it will all be wrapped up with some bubbly. Heck, remember those “Boo Baskets” we did for Halloween, well here comes “You’ve Been ELF’ed. Stay tuned on my Facebook page for more.
Need to Place an Order?
Truthfully, you can’t go wrong with any WineShop at Home wine. However, I think one of the safest bets for holiday gifts is sparkling wine. It’s really fun to drink during this festive time of year, and if your gift recipient doesn’t like it, he or she can easily give it away.
So go ahead: support a small business this winter and give the gift of delicious, high-quality Wine Shop at Home wine.
