If you joined us for conference this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, you’ll know what I’m talking about when I say that the 2017 WineShop at Home conference was truly incredible!
The training was amazing, the location was luscious, the wine was delicious but above all, the people are what really makes WineShop at Home the company to work for, hands down.
One of the unexpected surprises that pop up when you find the right direct sales company is that the team really is like a family. Of course, most people don’t start a business like WineShop because they’re on the hunt for a new extended family – they do it because they want to make more money, have more fun and work on their terms!
But when you find yourself in the right company with the right people, it makes all the difference. I would even go so far as to say that even the knowledge that you could make a smidge more money at another company doesn’t matter. You stay for the people. The people make all the difference.
WineShop at Home Welcomes All New Consultants at Conference
Something truly remarkable happened at conference this year (okay, okay – remarkable things happen EVERY year at conference, but this is just one of them!).
A brand, brand new consultant arrived at conference with every intention of learning the ropes and diving into the business headfirst. This is something that I really encourage, especially among new consultants, because in all honesty it does take a bit of a learning curve to “get” WineShop at Home (but once you get it, and work at it, amazing things start to happen).
This consultant was ready to be fully present and open-minded at the event when she received unexpected and disastrous news from home. The news was big enough that she had to make a decision: would she stay at conference, or would she fly home to be with her family?
She didn’t know anyone at conference other than me, and I had obligations to be on stage and give several talks during the course of the weekend.
But when she decided to stay, my team rallied around us and handled many of my obligations so that I could hold this new consultant’s hand and make her feel truly welcome in our company.
Here’s why this matters: at most business conferences, even if you’re part of the company and you know people, on some level you feel like a loner where each person is out for themselves. But not at WineShop at Home. My team was hugely supportive and I am so proud of them – we successfully welcomed a new consultant into the fold despite the calamity and last minute shuffling that had to happen as a result.
We really do have the best people.
