The truth is that my team does very well with WineShop at Home. I’ve been building it for 12+ years and we’ve spent that time really refining our understanding of how the business works, honing our skills as direct sellers and becoming stronger as a team.

But recently I started thinking about what it really takes to get to the point where I am now: what does a typical consultant have to do to build a super solid team and create the passive income that I’ve created? Honestly, I was a typical consultant once, too. There was a point where I wasn’t making much money in this business, I felt like I didn’t what I was doing, I questioned if I could make this work but I saw the potential and I really went for it – and now my family and my team reaps huge rewards.

It Starts with Your Mentality
Everything in life starts from your mentality, and WineShop at Home success is no exception. To make money in the business, you have to kick your expectations and desire up a notch.
Here’s what I mean: sometimes as leaders, we love our business and we have a blast sharing our passion for wine with others, but we’re really not striving for more.
We enjoy WineShop at Home because obviously, this company is awesome, it’s fun, we have the best people and the best products. But simply enjoying the business and bringing in steady income isn’t enough to build your business.
I get it – things get comfortable, and if you don’t really need the money there might not be an urgent need to generate more sales and create new connections.
But imagine if you made an extra $2000 every month, even if you don’t really need the money. Imagine how it could change your life! That could mean paying off your mortgage more quickly, sending your kids to the private college they’ve been dreaming of or taking your dream vacation or two!
I mean really – what would you do with an extra $2000 a month?
Allow Yourself to Get Uncomfortable
We have a very, very small number of consultants really working this business seriously and raising the bar in terms of sales, and those people are headed toward truly incredible results.
But I have to say that… most of our consultants don’t truly put their maximum effort in. Instead of going out into the world, making themselves uncomfortable and asking for things that might feel “impossible,” (aka asking someone to host that you think will say no, or picking up the phone to ask a customer if she wants to re-order, etc.) they do the sales that come easily. They call the customers they’re comfortable with… but they don’t really want to stretch.
The key to getting that extra $2k per month is getting uncomfortable. Pick up the phone. Get organized and follow up with your customers. Do things that you’ve never done before and be willing to fail!
In the last two months I’ve stepped up my game big time. And guess what!? People want to buy our wine but that doesn’t mean they’re going to pick up the phone and call us! Your effort will make the biggest difference in the world. I had to get uncomfortable too!
