A lot of people don’t realize that most direct sales consultants aren’t trying to do it full time or leave their current job. The vast majority of WineShop at Home consultants work their WineShop business part time alongside full time employment which, in most cases, they have no desire to give up.
In fact, most of our consultants love their jobs, earn a good salary with benefits – but they just want something fun on the side that brings in extra cash and comes with a side order of delicious adult beverages!
I’m a strong believer in creating multiple streams of income, and to me, WineShop at Home offers the perfect opportunity for people to do just that.
For many of our consultants, their work with WineShop has turned out to be an important – if not crucial – financial insurance policy for their life.
Let me explain what I’m talking about.
In the Case of Health Challenges
Most jobs aren’t really as secure as we like to think they are. Sure, you might be working in a corporate position for several years with benefits and a 401k, but in the event of a devastating health challenge – say, an illness or serious accident – your job security can come into question.
I’m thinking of one person in particular on my team, we will call jher “Andrea”. She was working a full time job in Corporate America, which she loved, while also working her WineShop at Home business on the side.
When Andrea was in a car accident she was so grateful for the health insurance her employer provided, but she was unable to return to work for almost two years. During that time, she lost her full time job… but she was able to keep her WineShop at Home business and continue making a steady income while she healed.
With WineShop At Home, there’s no manager checking up on you to make sure you’re getting your hours in. There’s no one looking over your shoulder, eyeing your job. You’re in charge of your hours and you decide if you stay or if you go. What an incredible blessing this has turned out to be for so many of our consultants.
Honing in on Your Why
Sometimes, as a consultant, you have to step back and ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” It’s so important to stay clear on your why – and you might realize that there are several reasons you’re in this business.
For one consultant who is a performing artist, she finally landed a big acting job that took her around the country. Not only was her WineShop At Home business there for her when she got back, but she could even do some tastings around the country while she toured plus stay in touch with her customers, making money along the way.
For another consultant who had been a stay-at-home mom for almost two decades, she wanted to get back into the workforce but was nervous about how to do that. She needed to brush up on her sales skills first, so she started a WineShop At Home business to ease her way back into the workspace. It turned out to be a really graceful transition: she started making money, padded her resume along the way and ended up finding the perfect job FROM someone she met at a tasting!
For me, at a certain point I realized that I didn’t want to work full time anymore – I wanted to spend more time with my family. I focused on building up my passive income through new recruits and Wine Club, and I was able to cut back on my hours and still make a great income.
Everyone’s “Why” is different, whether they’re planning for a rainy day or not. So, what’s yours?
