Last month during our Team Leader Explosion (and NO, for the last time, I did not make up that name) I promised that I would take myself through the same process as the consultants on my team who were going for team leader.
Why? Because I want them to see that nope, I’m not just up here coasting – I’m doing the work with them!
I was totally jazzed to get on board with this challenge… and then I broke my ankle. And it was awful. It was so incredibly painful, not to mention that I couldn’t even walk without making a huge deal of it.
But guess what? I didn’t let that stop me. As of this post, I’ve hit the sales goal and I just need to recruit 2 more people and I’ll have hit the Team Leader Explosion goal. In other words: I’m going to make it.
So if I can do it while I’m laid-up with the most painful break I’ve ever had in my life… what’s your excuse?
The Upside of Feeling Down
It would have been so easy to throw myself a pity party and give up. And believe me, it’s not like there wasn’t some part of me that wanted to do that! It sucks being injured like this. Really.
But there’s a silver lining to everything, and it didn’t take long for me to notice that being practically bed-ridden has given me a lot of time to think. I got a chance to evaluate what I’m doing with my business (and yeah, with my life, but that’s a different story).
As it turned out… being injured actually wasn’t such a bad thing for business.
I found myself making more phone calls and conducting tastings virtually (I’ll give you more info on this later in the month). I led one of my most successful tastings ever with a broken ankle, and I haven’t lost any income.
After all… it’s not like my personality is broken!
What’s Your Excuse?
Believe me when I tell you that I’ve heard every excuse in the book. If you can name it, I’ve heard it come out of a WineShop at Home consultant’s mouth.
But when it really comes down to it, people who make excuses not to do the business just really don’t want to do the business. And the people who want to do it – well, they’re going to do it come hell or high water. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that we had a consultant on the list for a heart transplant who still made her numbers.
I mean. Come on.
Here’s the bottom line: if you really want to do it, you’ll find a way. Nothing will stop you. And if you want to do this – to really do this, make a living or earn extra money on the side selling a product you love with the best people in the world, WineShop at Home will give you everything you need to make it happen.
