WineShop at Home offers a business that you can fit into tiny segments of your life, meaning that you can generate a good part-time income without being physically present at a job 5 days a week.
That said, your solid part-time income isn’t going to drop out of the sky! You have to put in the effort it takes to keep your schedule full, to keep yourself moving forward, and keep working toward your goals with a mindset that embraces flexibility.
Did you notice the key word in there?
Success in this business is all about flexibility—and here’s how to embrace it (even when you really, really don’t want to)…
Allow Your Team to do their Thing
As a team leader, it’s thrilling to bring on a new recruit. We see the huge potential they have with the company, their enthusiasm feeds us and we feel a strong pull to help them succeed. I get it!
And yet… not everyone who joins your team will do everything you want them to do. After all, it is their life, not yours! Not everyone’s dream is to build their business the way you want to build your business, and you have to be okay with that.
How many times have you heard about the direct sales team leader who pushed and pushed and pushed her team to sell, sell, sell and eventually the recruits got burned out and quit? That’s a common story in our industry. The more you can allow your team members to define their own goals and help them reach those goals, the stronger your team will be—and their goals won’t always (or ever!) necessarily mirror yours.
Like I said, flexibility.
Allow Your Tastings to be what they will Be
I recently showed up to a tasting and the hostess had prepared nothing other than Girl Scout Cookies (we were doing one of my favorite tastings where you pair Girls Scout Cookies with wine – yum!). While this was the theme, it’s not usually the ONLY thing we have however delicious.
There were no appetizers, no paper napkins, no nothing: she was almost totally unprepared for the tasting (despite the fact that I’d sent her a complete list of suggested nibbles, like I always do).
Sheesh! I was taken back for a second, but what can you do? Roll with it!
Years ago, I might have panicked in this situation, but not anymore. I’ve learned to roll with the challenges as they come and I didn’t even blink an eye. We just pushed through the tasting and it was a lot of fun and successful AND a MUCH needed reminder of how simple the tasting can be.
It can be a little difficult to embrace flexibility in some situations, however; when I have an extra talkative group I recognize that I have a choice: I can either get upset and feel out of control or I can realize that they probably really need this social outlet and find another way to refocus them back on the wine.
I can get frustrated, or I can look at how to help them purchase wine on their budget. Which of these two options do you think is best for my bottom line?
When you master the art of being flexible with your WineShop at Home business, you’ll make more money, you’ll have more fun, and you’ll feel much less stressed about the small things. Trust me! Roll with it!
