As WineShop at Home consultants, we spend so much time trying to book more tastings, sell more wine and grow our team that we often forget about one of the most important aspects of the business: Wine Club!
It makes sense that we overlook this amazing opportunity to generate passive income. I totally get why it happens; we need active income now and we want to see results now and it’s absolutely right to focus on the more urgent aspects of the business… but this week, let’s take a look at Wine Club.
Allow me to pull back the curtain on just how amazing Wine Club can be for your business…
I think 50 is the Magic Number for Wine Club
Not too long ago, I got curious about Wine Club and crunched some numbers (yeah, amazing, right? I did math!). I figured out that once you hit 50 Wine Club members, you’re basically in the “sweet spot” where you start to see the kind of money and repeat business that can really make a difference in your life.
Now, at WineShop at Home, the amount of commission you make will vary based on your leadership level. However, even if you’re just starting out at the lowest commission level, once you have 50 Wine Club members you’ll start to see some serious traction in your business both because of the residual income from your Club Members and the additional sales and tastings that having that many member would bring you. Heck the 50 members alone would probably pay for your convention attendance and travel or cover the cost of a week of your families groceries each month.
Imagine if you could fully fund your IRA annually with just your Wine Club commission every month. Or even save for a really fun family vacation, or get a massage every month! You can, earn yourself into a higher commission bracket and/or have more wine club member. Or BOTH!
That extra money adds up quick, and guess what? With Wine Club, you only have to make the sale once. Then it’s just monthly, recurring income.
Sa-weet!
How to Get to 50 Wine Club Members
Like anything in life, there’s no surefire, direct path to get 50 Wine Club members, but I’ve mapped out a plan that I think will get you pretty darn close if not beyond 50 Wine Club members.
Let’s say you make it a goal to get 50 members by the end of 2017. Here’s the formula I’ve worked out:
• Do 6-8 Tastings/Month
• Talk up Wine Club at every tasting
• Ask everyone if they would like to give it a try
Simple right?
I’ve noticed that Wine Club members do come and go (they might sign up for a season, or a year, or even a few years), so you have to work on continuing to replenish your Wine Club members.
But if you follow the above formula, and make sure to ask every person at every tasting if they want to join the Wine Club, you’ll see an uptick in your membership.
And while you might be thinking, “Hmph. I’ll only earn an extra few dollars per month per Wine Club member! That’s peanuts!” Well peanuts ADD UP! Depending on your commission level you’d earn about $3-$6 per wine club member plus commission on any extra orders they place. Now we’re talking!
And that would become some fun money!
Don’t Underestimate Wine Club
As you create your goals for 2017, don’t forget about Wine Club. With just a few simple tweaks to your business, you can earn residual income that adds up.
Not only that, but as I tell my team members again and again, Wine Club members prove themselves to be the best customers over time. They’re the best advocates, the best hosts, and they’ll ultimately bring in the most sales for your business. Often they become the best team members too! You know who you are 😀
