At WineShop At Home, we are a licensed, bonded California winery — not a vineyard. In other words we use the world as our vineyard and have established relationships with wine producers throughout California and beyond — including internationally in countries such as France, Chile, Argentina, Australia. We have the freedom and excitement of pursuing new opportunities in the wine market and are not restricted, or in a no way bound, to release a certain vintage at a particular time. If we don’t believe a vintage is excellent, for instance, we don’t have to produce it.
Varietals are selected for release based on our philosophy of providing a good mix of the normal varietals (i.e. when’s the last time we had a Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay), plus offering a unique selection of very popular varietals for us, such as Moscato, and new and interesting wine that our customers would not have had the opportunity to explore.
Our winemaker, Alex Reble, based on his years of experience in France and the United states, relies on his proprietary and confidential sources, to provide him with samples. Once he receives the samples in-house, he tastes through them to decide which samples he wants to work with. From there, he uses his skill to handcraft the wines to the palates of our Wine Club Members and customers. All of our wines are exclusive and can be found nowhere else on earth other than through our Wine Consultants and our Wine Club.
As for the brand labels, there are certain brands that we release at a particular time of year. For brand variety, we try to release brands at an interval of approximately 8 to 12 months. However, if we come across a fantastic wine that fits into a particular brand profile, we will release it sooner. We produce 4 new wines each and every month, and often release two new brands at National Convention.
Releasing the same wine each and every year from one particular vineyard is not something that we do. We are not tied to one vineyard for any of our brands. Because we are sourcing the best of the best from the world wine marketplace, we are not necessarily going back to the same vineyard each and every year for a particular brand. We do, however, source a similar style of wine for the brand. So, what you see in this year’s Moscato, for instance, will be different from what you see next year. It will be the best Moscato available that particular year — which may, indeed, come from another vineyard who had a great harvest.
