It’s the million-dollar question that everyone wants to know: how much money can I make as a brand new WineShop At Home consultant? What about in three months? Six months? A year?
So, before we dive into this conversation (and I will be completely honest and open with you about these numbers, I promise), I’m obligated to say the following: WineShop At Home cannot guarantee income. Our top-earning consultants put in the work to generate sales, and their results are not guaranteed.
That said, this business is ripe with opportunity to bring in a good chunk of change!
WineShop At Home is a Business
We love what we do here at WineShop, but obviously we’re all here to make money. This is a business, after all! All of us are here to bring in money and make our lives better (while we have fun, travel the world and meet the coolest people on the planet).
So, how much can you make when you’re just starting out?
Bottom line, we start you at 20% commission. The exact amount you’ll bring in each month will vary depending on a few things:
- How many tastings you lead
- Whether or not you have anyone on your team
- Whether or not you have any Wine Club members
For simplicity’s sake, let’s look at the example of a brand new consultant who just started out and doesn’t have any team members (recruits) or Wine Club members.
Okay… are you ready for some math? Deep breath. Let’s dig in:
Our most successful wine consultants lead 6-10 tastings per month, and our average tasting generates about $450 in total sales.
Case Study: Brand New Consultant Cindy
Commission rate: 20%
Tastings per month: 6
Average sales per tasting: $450
Total wine sales/month: $2700
Total commission for the month: $810 because she earned two raises. When you see over $1500 in a month you earn an extra 5% and when you sell over $2500 in a month you earn another 5%. She earned both getting her up to 30% commission. She could have gone beyond, if she had done two MORE tastings, bringing her (hopefully) to $3600 in sales for the month and then she would have earned our final bonus of ANOTHER 5% for being over $3500 in sales. THAT would have made her commission an awesome $1260!
So, based on my estimates, brand new consultant Cindy could potentially bring in around $810 in commission her first month as a WineShop At Home consultant. Of course, Cindy hasn’t yet had a chance to recruit any team members nor has she added any members into her Wine Club.
Become a Team Leader to Make More Money
When a WineShop At Home consultant makes just slightly more sales, she or he can get promoted to Team Leader and see a significant jump in their earnings.
Let’s look at another consultant’s slightly more advanced tasting:
Case Study: Team Leader Lorraine
Commission rate: 39%
Tastings per month: 6
Average sales per tasting: $450
Total wine sales/month: $2700
Total commission for the month: $1053 (before any extra team commissions!)
Lorraine did the same amount of work, made the same number of sales, but because she’s operating at the Team Leader level, she’s brought in more money at the end of the month!
To be completely honest, it doesn’t matter where you are on your WineShop At Home journey… the most important thing that will move your business forward is having tastings on your calendar. The more tastings you lead, the more people you meet, the more opportunities you’ll get and the more money you’ll make.
