When most of us think about direct sales, we think skin care and jewelry. The model evolved out of the “home party” of 1950s, which provided housewives with an opportunity to earn extra income while socializing and without having to leave the home.
It will come as no surprise then to learn that 90% the people operating a home-based business today are women. The great thing about WineShop at Home is that men can have just as much fun and be just as successful as their female counterparts.
Nelson: The Stay At Home Dad
Nelson was working as a retail manager when he and his wife had their first child. At the time, they were both working 40 hours a week and it made more sense for Nelson to stay at home with the baby than it did to pay the high cost of childcare.
When babies two and three came along, Nelson started his WineShop business to earn a little extra income and have flexibility. He quickly realized this could be even MORE than a little extra income as he promoted up to the rank of Director. He lives in Simi Valley, loves wine and loves staying home with the kids, so this business is perfect for him.
Josh: The Good Time Guy
Josh has a full time job working as an assistant director for a before and after school program. He loves it and has no intention of quitting. He decided to start his WineShop business because it’s fun and social and gives him the chance for a night out.
In addition to having a great time, he’s also won tons of awards and brings in an extra $2,000 a month in income. He’s about to take his partner on an all-expenses paid trip to Barcelona and he’s having a great time building his business. He was finding it so successful that 1 year and 8 months after joining, he decided to hand in his notice and make WineShop his full time income so I guess we can now say he HAD a full time job!
Tom: The Savvy Saver
Tom is established, married and working a full-time corporate job. Like Josh, he enjoys the social aspect of running his WineShop business but he’s also doing it more for his love of the wine and people, and he has an eye toward the future.
Right now, Tom’s goal is to build the business while he and his wife are still working full time so that they can fully enjoy retirement. While continuing to earn a corporate income his WineShop business has earned him recognition, a trip and some much needed outlets from his “Day Job”.
