Okay, I don’t mean to get all sappy here, but recently I was really reflecting on the nature of a direct selling business. Unfortunately, people still believe the myths surrounding this business structure (they mistakenly believe that it’s a scam or a pyramid scheme, when it’s actually, it’s basically a mini-franchise). Maybe it’s because some reps or company’s have given this model a bad rap. That sucks, I hate it but the truth is there are bad versions of everything but we don’t pigeonhole an entire industry or field.
The truth is that a business like WineShop at Home (or any other successful direct sales business) gives you ultimate freedom and many options for generating income.
Brick & Mortar vs. WineShop at Home
When I recently visited my mother, this topic was really bouncing around my head. She’s just started a new business, which is incredible and I’m so proud of her. She moved to a new state and I watched as she had to look for a location, get licensed, insured, purchase inventory, hire employees (and replace over a dozen in her first 4 months) and who knows what else.
Her brick and mortar business requires a lot of capital. The truth is, she’s going to ultimately love her business, but it requires tens of thousands of dollars to get up and running – not to mention the time that she’ll pour into it… and let’s just be honest for a moment: there’s no guarantee that it will be successful, despite her best efforts. Side note Mom, if you’re reading this, OF COURSE you will be successful! This is an industry you know and you are filling a niche! ☺
Starting a business is always a risk. Heck, even having a steady job with a reliable corporation is still a risk (you never know when the company will need to lay people off, or go under RadioShack-style, or… you catch my drift).
There’s simply always risk involved when it comes to earning money. But in my opinion, when you really develop the skills you need to generate income, you’re always a step ahead.
WineShop is Easy to Get Going
One thing I love about WineShop (well, there are many ) is that it’s not a huge investment to begin. For a few hundred dollars you can start your business from your home. You don’t have to carry inventory, and you don’t have to go to years of business school to get started. In fact, if you took it soup to nuts, kit, a couple early self-hosted tastings, supplies, and even attending convention you could do it all for under $2K. I’m not saying you need that much, I’m simply pointing out you could “try” your business for an entire year for about the same as your monthly cable bill.
And one of the huge perks is that WineShop wants you to be successful so badly that they will actually give you FREE sales training. Talk about skills! And as you are learning and earning money you can earn wine too!
I’ve been working with WineShop for eleven years. I started out just like you: I invested a couple hundred dollars, attended the trainings, and worked my butt of to get things going.
I didn’t have to put tens of thousands of dollars on the line to do it – but now, years later, I earn a substantial income with my wine business. I could afford to buy and open a franchise if I wanted to, and I can afford to take my family to DisneyWorld when I want to.
I get to live the life I dreamed of: I get to spend time with my kids, manage several properties, and have fun with my wine friends.
Now, I came into this business really wanting to do it full time. But there are plenty of people who only want to have fun and earn an extra $500-$2000 per month , and that’s great. That’s amazing. That’s what I love. It can be what you WANT it to be.
You can do that, too. You can set your own schedule, enjoy wine that you love and make money.
